Leif jumped back in surprise. "Whoa!" He stumbled back. "What's your problem?" The young man stomped around the strange lady and resumed his whittling.

"What's going on? Otti?" Erika leaped down and followed. She could get the goose later. A man was making something from wood. She also noticed Otti ripping the feathers off the bird. "Hey! Stop that! I can use those!" Erika exclaimed exasperated. She leaned down to collect the mangled feathers. "By Odin's beard!" Erika mumbled. The man intrigued her but she wasn't going to press her curiosity.

Otti shot a glare at the young man across the alley. "Mr. Creep here was just staring at your'hunting technique'" Otti made quotation marks out if her fingers. She scoffed. She resumed her plucking of the bird, but a little gentler.

Leif glared back into the woman's dark gaze. His knife carved the hard oak easily, like butter. The form of a goose with an arrow in its breast formed from the blade. He looked down, his braided section of hair dangling in front of his face, obscuring his looks.

"I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it." Erika shrugged. She held up a broken feather and incinerated it quickly. It slowly shriveled into ash. She cast her caramel gaze to the man looking down. The object in his hands was still hard to see from where she was standing. Otti went a little easier on the bird and Erika remembered her goose. "I'll be right back!" She chimed running into the line of trees. "And Otti? Leave the poor boy alone?" She poked her friend, humor glinting in her eyes. With a grin she brushed past the man.

"If you say so." Otti murmured but continued to stare daggers at the boy. She didn't know why she had obeyed this girl she hardly knew, or why the man wasn't afraid of her. Today was just a strange day.

With one last glance at the woman called Otti Leif slipped away. He followed the brunette named Erika closely. One could say he was creepy, but he didn't care. He was mesmerized by the way her skirts swished around her legs, and her hair flowing around her fair face.

Erika felt somebody else's presence. She glanced behind her and saw the man following close behind. Not very secretive is he?...she thought. Raising her guard she kept walking, listening the satisfying crunch of leaves beneath her feet. It was getting dark and Erika was losing her sight distance rapidly. She hated using magic while people watched but she had no choice. Conjuring up a brilliant orange flame in her palm she held it out from her lighting her way. Who is that man?.... Erika found her goose and gently leaned down on her knee. She sent a prayer to Odin and pulled the arrow away. She put the shaft back into the quiver that held its identical arrow brothers.

Well there goes my cover. Leif though irritably. She probably though he was creepy and a stalker, so Leif gave up and obviously crunched along behind her. As she kelt so did the young man. "I apologize for being a nuisance and a creep. I made you this." He set an intricate carving of a very realistic goose with a long elegant arrow protruding from its breast. As he set it down first crept over its wooden surface. He also held magic. "Your secrets safe with me." He whispered and stood.

He knew she noted his presence and took no further to hide it. As he knelt down beside her she got a good look at him. ....Wow....He looks good.... "Your neither." Erika replied simply shrugging at him. ....He made me something?..... He sat down a goose much like the one she had killed. An arrow had killed this replica as well. Her kill was turned into a frozen moment of time. Carved into wood to be seen by all. But she fell back in shock as frost covered its surface. "Magic?" She whispered. The man stood and began to walk off. Erika looked between him and the goose on the ground. Standing she melted the frost and picked up the carving. Turning she noticed the man was already gone and it was dark save for her little circle of light. It was dark and she could barely see the lights from the town. "I didn't think I walked so far." Erika said to herself. She started her journey back and just as the lamps were coming into view the earth beneath her feet gave way. "Kyaaa~" Erika tumbled down the steep hill and halted herself, finally, in a hollow. Leaves clung to her hair and she grimaced as she untangled them. "That's wonderful." She mumbled sarcastically. Gazing back up she realized she had stepped on an unstable and thin root collection. It hadn't supported her weight. Erika stood and brushed herself off. A low growl made her freeze. She slowly raised her eyes. Glowing orbs in sets of two faded into her sight. "Wolves...."

Otti growled and stuck the bird into her satchel. Deep in her stomach she knew something was wrong. Erika should be here by now. Part of her wanted to leave her as she usually did, but Erika intrigued her. In a split second decision she dashed out if the village.

Leif reached the outskirts of the town. He turned around but couldn't see her. "My Lady?" He called. He saw Otti run out. She's in trouble. He leaped toward. A dark hole erupted from the ground and swallowed him. He fell on his feet. He was suddenly confronted by wolves, at least three.

The wolves were massive. Erika heard footsteps and went to call out but one wolf lunged. It barreled into her shoulders as she raised her bow to defend herself. She fell backwards as it's jaws snapped dangerously close to her face. Erika grappled with it and saw the man from earlier. Whether he heard her shout or just realized she hadn't returned she didn't know and at the moment didn't care. The wolf growled as it fought against her bow. "You are one ugly dog!" Erika growled back before smashing a handful of fire into it's eyes. It yelped and she kicked it off. It rubbed it's eyes while yelping.

Leif fended off a wolf with his sword and frosty magic. It's blazing eyes boring into his soul. With a slash he face the wolf a long gadh a Ross its eye. He aimed his hand at its cur and attempted to shoot ice into its livid stream. The other wolf leaped into his back and hauled him onto the decomposing ground.

Otti barreled into the pit after Leif. Wolves. She looked into their golden eyes. They were starving. Her eyes narrowed and her pretty brow knit together. "Retreat!" She told the man and Erika. She growled at the canids and fished out the bird from her pack. "It's all I have." She whispered and tossed it into their drooling maws.
