In the beginning the worlds were only Fire and Ice. When the warm air of Muspelheim met the cold air of Niflheim the Jotunn Ymir and the icy cow Audhumla were born. Ymir's foot created a son while a man and woman emerged from his armpits. And while Ymir slept the heat from Muspelheim caused him to sweat. Surtur was born, the first fire jotunn. Audhumla licked on a salt stone and day by day a man emerged. He and an unknown female jotunn gave birth to the three gods, Odin, Vili, and Ve.
When the gods felt strong enough they killed Ymir. His blood drowned all the jotunn except two. But soon again there were as many as from before Ymir's death. The gods created seven more worlds using Ymir's flesh as dirt, his blood as oceans, rivers and lakes, his brain were clouds, and his skull made heaven. Sparks from Muspelheim became the stars.
One day the gods were walking and found two tree trunks. They made them into humans. Odin gave them life, Vili gave them a mind, and Ve gave them the ability to hear, see, and speak. They named them Ask and Embla and made the Middle-Earth kingdom for them, and to kee out the jotnar the gods build a large fence around middle-earth made of Ymir's eyelashes.
From then on we now await Ragnarok.
