Kauko sat at the base of one of the twisted trees, nestled in between two winding, knotted roots that jutted from the ground. He had open in his lap a notebook of some sort, and was scribbling tirelessly, his concentration unbreaking, on its brown pages. With his fingers dark with the charcoal he held between them, his purple eyes stared wide at his work, whatever it might be. He paused, and lifted his hand from the page, looking it over with curiosity and innocence before, with a jump, he continued to scribble.

Astrid weaved between the trees strumming her guitar. It's simple melody filled the empty spaces between the branches and the trunks of the trees. She hummed along with what she played. Her long dark hair was blowing a bit in the wind and the feathers in it shone. She giggled as something crawled up her shoulder and relaxed around her neck. It was white and fuzzy and it squeaked with content. Astrid rubbed it on what could be presumed as it's head? Too fuzzy to be sure.

As the sound reached Kauko's ears, his head jumped up a little, and with alarmed and somewhat suspicious eyes, he looked around his surroundings in search of the strange noise. Cautiously, after figuring out the direction from which it came, he crept that way and positioned himself behind a bush where he peered over. He gasped quietly as he saw a girl with dark hair wandering between the thick saturation of trees, strumming a strange instrument. She moved, and he pursued, still hiding withing the brush.

A gentle breeze blew Astrid's hair over her face. She stopped and stood there for a second. Annoyed she set her guitar down against the nearest tree and settled down next to it. Reaching up around her neck she picked up the white fuzzy creature and set him down. It uncurled itself to take the form of a ferret. White with black paws. Its' piercing red eyes scanned the brush, it was suspicious. "Relax Duskin." The girl murmured. Her nimble fingers were tying the long blackness of her hair back into a braid. It extended from the back of her head down and over her shoulder. Tying it off she leaned back against the rough bark and watched Duskin sniff around and waddle this way and that. He waddled up to the bush and froze staring into it. He had spotted the boy hiding.

Kauko watched as the strange furry creature wandered ever closer to his hiding place, growing continuously weary as it neared him. He tried to slow his breathing so it wouldn't spot him, but it was too late, the animals little eyes had spied him through the bush. Kauko hissed from the back of his throat in an attempt to get it to go away, as he did not want to catch the attention of the girl who was now watching her pet intently.

"Duskin! What are you doing." Astrid tilted her head to the side. "Come here." Duskin refused to budge. She gave a low whistle. He still didn't move. "This better be interesting." She mumbled to herself getting up and carefully walking over to the brush. Hopefully nothing jumped out at her. Her green eyes began to see a faint outline of something but she couldn't quite make out what it was. "Duskin? What's back there?" Astride reached out a hand to move the leaves aside.

Kauko stared back at her, unsure as to how to respond, but cracked a smile before turning as he stood and darted back to where he had previously been writing.

A the form of the shadow that hid behind the bush darted off. "Hey!" She shouted slightly startled. "Duskin! Fetch." The furry white weasel took off through the underbrush close on the boy's heels. Astrid turned to grab her bow and guitar before following. Good thing Duskin is white....She thought. Or she would never find him. His slim body bobbed and weaved close to the ground and she only almost lost him once. He had dived under a rock. He led her to an open clearing with a large mangled looking tree. She looked around from the behind the small sapling she tried to take cover in. Not her best move but it was all she had. She gave a soft whistle to call Duskin back but he was gone. "Duskin?" She hissed. Where was he?
